Day 1 in Bangkok – The Grand Palace, Wat Pho, Wat Arun, Khao Sun

The Grand Palace

The Grand Palace is a mandate if you are in Bangkok. This is one of the main tourist attractions in the city. Architecture lovers, in particular, will enjoy this place. The Palace is open from 8.30 AM to 15.30 PM and the entry fee is THB 500 and this gives you the access to visit the following;

Wat Phra Kaeo – This is the most sacred temple of Buddha in the whole country of Thailand
The Royal Thai Decorations & Coins Pavilion
Vimanmek Mansion Museum
Queen Sirikit Museum of Textile

To visit The Grand Palace, there is a boat called Chao Phraya Express that takes you to Tha Chan. From there, the palace is just a walk away.

Wat Pho

Wat Pho is also called the Reclining Temple of Buddha. Once you are out from Grand Palace, you can walk your way to Way Pho. A fare of 100 THB is collected as entry fee.

As you enter Wat Pho, you will find a giant reclining Buddha that gives you instant peace! The statue is 46 metres long and 15 metres tall. Let loose of your mind, body and soul here. Wat Pho is the best school of massage and claims to be the first public university in Thailand.

Wat Arun

Once you leave from Wat Pho, choose Wat Arun as your next destination. Take a boat for just 10-20 THB to Wat Arun. There is a strict dress code regarding revealing clothes in this temple.

Wat Arun is called the temple of dawn. Aruna, the God of dawn resides in this beautiful dawn temple. You have to be ready to climb up lots of stairs to reach the temple. But, I bet you won’t regret it after you see the view from the top of this Thai temple!

Head to the east of Chao Phraya river to catch the best experience, watching the dawning sun.

Khao San Road

In the evenings, go shopping at Khao San Road and eat your heart out enjoying the street foods of Thailand.

A range of items like sunglasses, souvenirs, shoes and party clothes are available in Khao San Road night market. This is the most happening night market in Bangkok. Enjoy doing some bargaining here.

You will find fried insects in the stalls. Try it if you want to have an interesting experience.

Don’t miss the Pad Thai, the national dish of Thailand.

Fried Banana pancake or Roti Gluay is one dish you must try in this street.

Day 2 in Bangkok – Wat Suthat, Jim Thompson House, Lumphini Park, Rooftop Bar Restaurant

Wat Suthat

Yet another place to admire the architecture in Bangkok is the splendid structure of Wat Suthat. The entry fee to this place is 20 THB. Having a height of 21.15 metres, the giant red swing here is a treat for your eyes. This was used in the Brahmin swing ceremonies for Lord Shiva.

The Chinese stone structure is one of our favourite parts of this architecture. 24 incarnations of Buddha are carved in the walls of the temple. On the outer wall, there are 156 images of Buddha.

Boat, taxi and tuk-tuk are available to reach this place.

The Jim Thompson House

The Jim Thompson House is basically a museum of Asian art. This place is named after an American man, Jim Thompson.

You are allowed to click photos only outside the museum.

Local dancers fill the place with their grace. Some locals are seen extracting silk from a cocoon. Keep an eye on all the amazing artefacts from South-east Asia here.

Lumphini Park

If you feel super exhausted because of the scorching heat and travelling, then sit back at the Lumphini park for a lazy evening. Nature lovers will thank us for suggesting this place for your 4 day Bangkok itinerary.

Rooftop bars in Bangkok

You will find some of the best rooftops bars in Bangkok. They are perfect for an evening out. Get a view of the whole city lit up for the night from the top of a building.

Many rooftop bars serve famous cocktails and yummy foods of Thailand which you can enjoy as you gaze at the beauty of Bangkok. Music and dance add the experience at the rooftop bars.

Day 3 in Bangkok – Chinatown of Bangkok, Wat Traimit, Creative District Bangkok

Chinatown of Bangkok

After two days of travelling, let Day 3 be a relaxed one. Awaken the foodie inside you and explore Chinatown. This is found at Yaowarat Road.

Named after this road, the Yaowarat toasted bread is recommended by locals and savoured by the tourists.

Try out some seafood at T&K restaurant. We would also suggest you do not miss the street food here both at day and night. Wanton noodles, Pad Thai and the Mussel omelette are must-try foods in Chinatown.

Wat Traimit

Near Chinatown of Bangkok is another well-known tourist attraction, Wat Traimit. This is called ‘The Temple of Golden Buddha.’ The weight of this statue is said to be five and a half tonnes and the height is five metres. This is the biggest golden Buddha is the whole world!

Creative District Bangkok

This area celebrates the creativity of art, culture, food in Bangkok and a lot of travellers meet up here. It is really different from the rest of Bangkok. Chill here if you have time on Day 3.

Day 4 in Bangkok: Bangkok National Museum, Siam Paragon Mall, Floating Markets

Bangkok National Museum

Whilst in Bangkok, you must visit the historical National Museum. The Bangkok National Museum displays some of the most beautiful murals, artefacts, traditional music galleries, antiques and clothing. They collect an entry fee of 200 THB.

If you want more information about the museum, visit on a Wednesday when they offer guided tours conducted in English.

Siam Paragon Mall

Bangkok’s pride, Siam Paragon has the largest aquarium in Southeast Asia. On your last day at Bangkok, visit this place! There is also a 16 screen Cineplex here.

All the top brands of the world have their stores in Siam Paragon Mall. There are more than 250 shops in this Bangkok shopping mall and most of them are luxury stores. International brands like Louis Vuitton, Rolex, Prada, Jimmy Choo and many more can be found here.

Floating Markets of Bangkok

Did all those Instagram pictures of the floating markets carry you all the way to Bangkok? Prepare to witness the most amazing floating markets.

Traditional longtail boats are used in the floating markets of Thailand. When you are at the most famous Damneon Saduak floating market in Bangkok, you will be surrounded by sellers from all directions! Varieties of fruit, vegetables, souvenirs, handicrafts and more are sold from these wooden boats.

Food lovers have a huge range of items to try out! If you find someone selling mango sticky rice, go for it. It is super- delicious and filling.

Pick up some pork skewers as you shop in the floating markets. Also, one dessert that you will thank us for suggesting is the coconut ice- cream.

There are a lot of agents who offer a one-day trip to the floating market in Bangkok. If you want the trip to be more informative, take a local you can trust or a guide. They will teach you many things like how coconut sugar is made, what exotic fruits you can buy and more.

Observe the vendors of the market and take pictures of the floating market from different angles. The floating markets of Bangkok are a special place I’m sure you will remember for a long time.

Where are the best places to stay in Bangkok?

If you want to stay central to all the best attractions in the city make sure you stay near the Asok area. This area is not too touristy so you still get the local feel and prices but you can catch the BTS very easy and access as much of the city as you would like – all while avoiding the high taxi prices.

Where should I eat and drink in Bangkok?

When it comes to eating and drinking in Bangkok you will have so many choices it will be hard to choose.

Thailand is the street food capital and the amazing street food will have you in a food coma!

Each day they have a night market specific to that weekday so make sure you check out the various night markets for the best food.

How do I get around Bangkok?

The best way to get around in the city is by BTS or Skytrain. They connect most of the city and it is the best way to avoid traffic. Every station has a map so make sure you take a picture of it.

When is the best time of year to visit Bangkok?

December to February are the coolest months in Thailand and are ideal for exploring Bangkok on foot. However, if you aren’t worried about the heat I would suggest coming between March to May to celebrate Thailand’s amazing New Year festival!

How do I get to Bangkok from the airport?

Make sure you use the airport railway which will bring you directly to the city while saving you loads of money on the taxies.

How much should I budget for 4 days in Bangkok?

This is really up to you and depends on how you want to live or travel. For us personally, we can live for 4 days in Bangkok on around $50 USD. This is mainly because we are locals and live here. But for the average traveller with no restrictions and limitations, I would say around $200 USD will be sufficient for making your trip memorable and fun.

There are a lot more places to explore in Bangkok if you come for a longer duration. But, if you here for a short while, this plan will surely work for you!
